Are Democrats really mainstream?

One thing positive about an election year is you can pretty much see which party stands for or against high-profile issues. The one issue that tops the list is abortion. Democrats typically support it, Republican don’t.

Just watch the debate over the “Unborn Victims of Violence Act,” also known as the Laci and Conner’s Law. It doesn’t really address the abortion issue, but critics claim it is a plot trying to affirm that a fetus is really an unborn child. I have always believed that that is exactly what a fetus is. I have a new grandson to prove it. I think most “mainstream” Americans would agree.

Another issue is taxes. Democrats are always for raising taxes, especially on the so-called rich. Phil Angelides’ solution to the California fiscal mess is exactly that. I thought that is what got us in this mess to begin with. When the 10 percent of the working folks pay 90 percent of the tax revenue, and they have a bad day, guess what happens? Are “mainstream” Americans for raising taxes? Only the ones who don’t pay any are!

Listen to who is saying what, and you decide who is really mainstream.
