Antonson stands by his principles

I would like to congratulate Rene Antonson for standing by his principles and courageously deciding to be a write-in candidate for District 4 supervisor.

But I’m sure there are some people in the Republican Party who are fuming and disapprove of his stand. I can only imagine the problems he has opened himself up to. Nasty e-mails, degrading messages left on his answering machine, etc. To those people all I can say is, it’s your fault that this has happened.

If Mr. Antonson had been treated fairly instead of being pushed out of the way, he could have accepted Robin Sutherland’s victory. But knowing that she was hand- picked by his party’s leadership to run against him was more than anyone can be expected to take. Mr. Antonson is far more qualified. He is a past supervisor and won by more than 60 percent of the votes.

I hope Mr. Antonson will ignore his critics and remain strong, stick to his principles and do everything possible to give District 4 a candidate (and hopefully a supervisor) that everyone in Nevada County can trust and be proud of.
