Another view of RNC arrests

Amy Goodman’s second syndicated column account harping on the riot police behavior during the Republican convention in St. Paul is very misleading. I read another newspaper’s article on it that described rioters breaking windows and even setting a car on fire.

According to Goodman, the rioters were defending our constitutional right to assemble peacefully – but they weren’t peaceful. How about the rights of innocent people whose property was being destroyed by mob mentality? How about those whose lives were endangered?

Are the police supposed to allow such destructive behavior to proceed without restraint? Of course not. They put their lives on the front line to stop it.
