Analyzing stickers on truck’s bumper

One of my redneck friends took a look at the three bumper stickers on my truck the other day and said, “Let’s see: ‘Save Tibet,’ ‘Re-elect Bruce Conklin,’ ‘Go S.F. Giants – looks like you’re batting 0 for 3!'”

Touche! But let’s take them one at a time.

Tibet’s problems with China may or may not be solved during the lifetime of this Dalai Lama, but eventually they will be.

As of this writing, the Conklin/Bedwell election is still up in the air. Even if Mr. Bedwell loses, the current unpleasantness caused by the revelation of improper and probably illegal campaign expenditures by NCCRG, Mr. Bedwell and Ms. Sutherland will still be with us. Whether they decide to admit their violations, or we have to wade through the inevitable lawsuits and investigation by the State Fair Political Practices Commission, it will eventually come out in the wash. Sadly, even if their campaign conduct is found to be illegal, they’ll simply be fined and still allowed to sit on the board!

Perspective needed here? How about local campaign finance reform for future elections?

Regarding my third bumper sticker: “Wait ’til next year! Go Giants.”
