Amoral money machine

War can never solve any problem that diplomacy can’t fix better. Many men really love war, strutting about in fancy uniforms, macho bonding, big noisy guns and bombs, the wanton destruction, the mayhem and suffering caused to those “less powerful,” the horrific disruption of innocent lives.

This amoral adrenaline rush pays well for some. The men who run our government (and the women brainwashed into going along) want as much war as possible to extend their power and expand their ill-gotten fortunes. It’s quite a show.

If one-tenth of the money and energy wasted on the U.S. war machine were spent on education, health care, the environment and poverty reduction, we would have world peace. But as long as war means more profit for the wealthy few at the expense of the masses, we will never achieve a lasting peace. (How many children of U.S. senators, Republican or Democrat, currently serve in Iraq? How much have Halliburton and Bechtel and the Bush dynasty profited from the current Iraq debacle?)

End U.S. terrorist occupation now. Give real meaning, not just Sunday school lip service, to Jesus’ words, “Blessed are the peacemakers.” Stop killing. Work for peace and vote Bush out.
