Agriculture advisory meeting to discuss fee waiver

Nevada County Agricultural Commissioner Paul Boch will give an update on the status of the application of a “low threat waiver” at an Agricultural Advisory Commission meeting tonight at 6 p.m.

An appeal was made to the Central Valley Regional Water Quality Control Board on Jan. 28 to allow county residents to be eligible for a waiver of the cost to buy a permit to discharge wastewater. The argument is that local residents’ pesticide usage is minimal in comparison to Central Valley farmers and ranchers.

The meeting will be held at the Veterans Memorial Building in Grass Valley.

Also on the agenda is:

• Election of new chair and vice chair.

• Discussion on options to regulate roadside vendors selling fruit from out of county.

• Discussion of an online irrigation survey.
