A word to the unwise: Remember your history

Judging from the negative letters to The Union assailing President Bush’s policy towards Iraq, it would seem that a few people believe they can influence/incite the citizenry of Nevada County with their rhetoric regarding victims of a pending war with Iraq. Most of us remember the lessons of history that these letter-writers choose to ignore or are completely ignorant of.

Please, folks, go back to your history books; learn to appreciate the great sacrifices made for your freedom. We cannot allow a cruel tyrant like Saddam Hussein to continue torturing and killing. None of us want war, and you are wrong to believe our president wants war. None of us, including the president, want the innocents of Iraq to be harmed, but do you really believe we would wait until our children and grandchildren are threatened? What is your solution? Our president is trying to protect us, and I am truly ashamed of your lack of appreciation and your motives.
