A place for war

This is in response to the June 25 letter titled, “American Ideal at risk.”

I can’t accept this person’s point of view. I ask myself, does he represent the feelings of the majority of vets? I think not.

Maybe he thinks “civilians” are unenlightened about the realities of war. Maybe he had some terrible experience that makes him believe war is never the answer. Maybe he thinks that if he could tell us how horrible war is, it wouldn’t happen again.

I can’t answer those questions, but I can see his hatred has twisted his ability to see that there is a time and place for everything under heaven, including war.

It’s a sad fact that there are evil people that those meek-of-heart do not want to confront, but sometimes there’s no other choice. Thank God for those with the warrior spirit. The cruel hard truth is that there are those that want us dead just because we are Americans.

I feel extremely sad that he, and too many others, think that fighting for our way of life is wrong or that wanting others to share in our blessings of freedom are worth “nothing.”
