A glorious day

January 30, 2005, was a glorious day in the history of freedom and self-determination. I am grateful to President Bush and proud of the U.S. military for their courage and perseverance that has made the Iraqi election possible. As one might imagine, I am especially proud of my son, SPC Matthew Kesti, for the part he has played in this often-painful process.

Although my son’s service is soon to be complete and I very much look forward to his safe return home, I have no doubt that many Americans will have to continue to serve in Iraq and that some of them will make the ultimate sacrifice. The Iraqi people have, in my opinion, expressed their appreciation for these sacrifices in the finest possible way.
