‘639’ foe thanks county counsel

I am one of many who have been trying to get the 639 prefix changed. This has taken close to three years of work. It has taken many hours of research, meetings, phoning and letter writing, but I have felt that our cause was just.

This year, the Board of Supervisors granted us the help of the Nevada County counsel. They have taken on this issue and have also put in many hours on research and meetings. Because of our joint effort, we have a California Utility Commission judge coming to Penn Valley Nov. 20-21 to hear testimony from the residents and county counsel as to why we need to be connected to Nevada County, not Yuba and Sutter counties.

I would like to take this time to thank county counsel Charles McKee and his staff for making this happen. They have put in many hours, and many of those very frustrating, but they haven’t given up on our cause.
