4-H afterschool site to celebrate program

On Thursday, the Hennessy School site of the 4-H Afterschool Child Care Program will celebrate “Lights On Afterschool!,” a nationwide event calling attention to the importance of afterschool programs. Afterschool programs keep children safe, help working families and improve academic achievement.

Since 2000, Lights On Afterschool! has been an annual project of the Afterschool Alliance, an organization devoted to securing afterschool programs. Arnold Schwarzenegger is the national chairman, and J.C. Penny Afterschool is the national presenting sponsor.

“Rally Around the Gate” will be from 2:45-3:30 p.m. Thursday at the Grass Valley Charter School and Hennessy School Gate Veterans Building Parking Lot in Grass Valley. For more information, call Jeanette at 477-8131.
