MARYSVILLE – Trustees of the Yuba Community College District voted late Wednesday to rescind a pay raise they planned to give Chancellor Nicki Harrington.

In a packed session at the Linda campus, the five-member board voted against giving Harrington $29,000, which would have raised her yearly pay to more than $249,000 at a time when community colleges are cutting back due to California’s budget crisis.

Trustees had said Harrington was the lowest-paid chancellor in the state.
