Young crash victims still critical

Two young Nevada County crash victims severely injured in a March 14 crash near Lake Tahoe remain in critical condition.

Both Rochelle “Roxy” Weir-Ford, and her boyfriend-passenger, Daniel “Danny” Smith, are still at Renown Regional Medical Center in Reno, according to hospital spokesman Dan Davis.

Weir-Ford and Smith, both 18, and 2009 Nevada Union High School graduates, are in the hospital’s intensive care unit according to a Web site set up by their families.

Although they remain critical, their medical situations are now stable and not getting any worse, the Web site said.

The pair suffered the injuries in a collision with a pickup truck at the intersection of Highway 28 and Highway 50 in the state of Nevada.
