Writer stands by opinion on roaring motorcycles

I wrote a letter to the editor last month that seemed to push buttons in the community. I didn’t realize what a hot topic noisy motorcycles are.

Many people (you know who you are) were in agreement with my frustrations about loud revving bikes, rode by mostly by out of towners who drink in the local bars. Many of you also thought it inconsiderate of these bikers to roar down Main and Mill streets without any threat of consequences from the local authorities. Some of you went so far as to offer to attend a city council meeting.

Thank you for offering support and trying to be creative with your thoughts.

And, some of you were rude, offensive, projecting your own stuff onto a very simple statement of frustration on my part. I think there is value in what Jeff Pelline says about speaking up and putting your name on your opinions. Shooting your mouth off in hurtful, unskillful ways just exposes your own war within yourselves. No one is served in the need to be one up, or in putting others down.

Loud motorcycles are a problem in the Twin Cities. No matter what your opinion (liking/loving motorcycles or disliking/abhorring them), the fact remains that many in our community have to put up with inconsiderate behavior from a few.

I stand by my opinion and am proud to sign my name to my thoughts.
