Woman rescued from car sinking in Ellis Lake in Marysville

A woman was rescued Thursday morning from a sinking car after a collision with a truck sent her car veering into Ellis Lake in Marysville.

After sideswiping a truck and trailer, the woman’s Toyota Corolla caromed into Ellis Lake just before 8 a.m. Both vehicles were traveling west into Marysville Highway 20, said Marysville Police Department Lt. Chris Sachs.

The woman was rescued from the vehicle by the truck driver struck in the initial traffic collision. Another man who was pumping gas across the street when the incident occurred, helped him.

Both men jumped in the lake and pulled the woman out of the vehicle.

Once they got the woman above water, two responding Marysville officers jumped in and the four men swam the woman to shore, Sachs said.

Sachs said the woman was talkative after the crash and was transported to a local hospital by fire department personnel.
