Winners of Beading Challenge announced tonight

Tonight at 7, Mana Beads will announce the winners of its 2nd Annual Spring Beading Challenge and offer the beaded creations in a silent auction. Half of the auction proceeds will go to Neighborhood Center of the Arts in Grass Valley to support artists with developmental disabilities.

Creations are divided into two categories – “wearable” (such as jewelry, textiles, etc.) and “non-wearable” (sculpture, home décor, etc.) – with first-, second- and third-place winners in each category. A Best of Show will also be chosen.

According to Mana Beads, artists have been at work for two months, using a prescribed set of beads as a starting point and any variety of beading techniques.

Mana Beads is located at 423 Broad St. in Nevada City. Entries will be on display for two weeks following the event during regular business hours – Monday through Saturday, 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.; and Sunday, 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Call 470-8399 for more information.
