William Toms passed away after a sudden illness Aug. 13. He died peacefully surrounded by family and friends.

A graveside memorial service for family and friends will be held at 10 a.m., Saturday, Sept. 6, East Lawn Ð Sierra Hills Cemetery, 5757 Greenback Lane, Sacramento.

Mr. Toms was born Sept. 5, 1920, in Roseville. He was a successful CPA in the Sacramento area for more than 50 years. He belonged to the Ben Ali Shrine, Rotary International, Roseville Masons and Placerville Elks Club. He will be remembered for his service as a Marine in World War II and a life member of the Marine Corps League and Veterans of Foreign Wars.

“Bill,” as he liked to be called, was an avid hunter and fisherman. He enjoyed his many travels throughout the world. Through his work and his activities he touched many lives. He was a longtime friend of Marian Ghidotti and a trustee of the Ghidotti Foundation, which gives college scholarships to promising students in Nevada County.

He will be greatly missed.

Mr. Toms is survived by his children Leslie Toms, Gail Palen, Tracie Carlos and Chris Toms, as well as a large extended family.

He was preceded in death by his loving sisters Margaret and Isabella.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Shriners Children’s Hospital, 2425 Stockton Blvd., Sacramento, CA 95817.
