William Postell

Services for William Ralph Postell of Nevada City will be conducted at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Grace Lutheran Church, 1979 Ridge Road in Grass Valley. A private family burial will take place at St. Paul’s Lutheran Cemetery in Chicago Park.

Mr. Postell died Saturday, Aug. 28, in Nevada City. He was 80.

He was born Sept. 10, 1923, in Santa Monica, to Philip Smith Postell and Ruth Elizabeth Rose. He was raised in Beverly Hills, San Diego and Van Nuys. He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II. He acted as an aircraft maintenance technician to the Israeli Airforce, returning to the United States in 1956. He worked for Lockheed for 29 years as a supervisor and management specialist. He retired in 1985 and moved to Nevada City. He was a member of Grace Lutheran Church, Nevada County Historical Society, Friends of the Library and the Nevada County Travel Club. He enjoyed fishing and adventurous travel.



He is survived by his wife, Janet Postell; daughter, Sandra Lee Wales; stepsons Michael and Robert Lovelace; six grandchildren; six step-grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

Memorial contributions may be made to Grace Lutheran Church.




Arrangements are under the direction of Chapel of the Angels Mortuary.
