William Morris

William Morris, 64, of Big Oak Valley died Sunday, Jan. 2, at home.

In accordance with his wishes, there will be no services.

Mr. Morris was born June 23, 1940, in San Francisco. He served in the U.S. Navy. He was owner/operator of Bill’s Auto Truck Repair, and was a self-employed trucker for more than 40 years. He was a volunteer firefighter for the Smartsville Fire Department and was a Scout Master for Troop 4 in 1984. He received Recognition Awards for his help during the Downieville Fire Siege of 1987 and the 49er Fire in 1988, plus a certificate from the Safety Association for his commitment to Transportation Safety in the Trucking Industry. He enjoyed camping and boating with his family.



He is survived by his wife of 31 years, Nancy Morris of Big Oak Valley; son and daughter-in-law, Mark and Marion Morris Korte of Germany; son, Randy Morris Korte of El Cerrito; sister and brother-in-law, Carol and Larry Pierce of Gardnerville, Nev.; brother, Jack Morris of Big Oak Valley; extended family Jody and Robert Gillogley and their children of Big Oak Valley; and four grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his father, William Morris; and mother, Josephine Morris.

Arrangements are under the direction of The Neptune Society.
