William Coward

Private services for William P. Coward of Nevada City will be conducted.

Mr. Coward died Saturday, Jan. 28, at home. He was 92.

He was born April 7, 1913, in Martinez, to William P. Coward and Anna Jasper. He attended Pacheco Elementary and Mount Diablo High School. He married Jane in Martinez. He worked with Shell Oil Refinery for 35 years, retiring in 1968. He was a lifetime member of the Grass Valley Elks. He enjoyed ranching and flying.

He is survived by his sons John P. Coward of Concord, and Robert Coward of Grass Valley; daughter, Susan Keeney of Grass Valley; 11 grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife of 49 years, Jane E. Coward in 2004; and brother, James Coward in 2004.

Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of the Foothills, 12399 Nevada City Highway, Grass Valley 95945.

Arrangements are under the direction of Chapel of the Angels Mortuary.
