Wilfred Montgomery

Wilfred Lloyd “Monty” Montgomery, 89, of Grass Valley died Saturday, July 10, in Grass Valley.

No services are planned. His ashes will be scattered at sea by the U.S. Navy off the coast of San Diego County.

Mr. Montgomery was born Feb. 27, 1915, in Fort William, Canada, to Bernard and Maude Montgomery. He was a chief warrant officer for the U.S. Navy for 21 years. He married Lee on May 13, 1944, in Port Angeles, Wash. He retired as an electrical engineer from Lockheed. He was a member of the California Board for Professional Engineers. He enjoyed poker and chess.



He is survived by his wife, Lee Montgomery of Grass Valley; sons Grant L. Montgomery of Upper Lake and Gary Montgomery of Grass Valley; daughter, Lynne Newcombe of Roseville; granddaughters Richelle Meszaros of Roseville and Jessica and Melissa Montgomery, both of San Jose; and grandson, Brian Newcombe of Roseville.

Arrangements are under the direction of Chapel of the Angels Mortuary.
