A graveside funeral will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 4, at Greenwood Memorial Gardens, Grass Valley, for Wilbert A. Jerdon of Rough and Ready. Grass Valley Masonic Lodge #23 will direct the service. A memorial service will follow at 2 p.m. at the Day Break Café and Restaurant in Penn Valley. Mr. Jerdon died June 25 in Rough and Ready. He was 87.

Mr. Jerdon was born June 22, 1920, to William and Edna (Baber) Jerdon in Marysville. He completed the eighth grade and served in the United States Army between Dec. 1942 and Oct. 1945 in a tank division in Europe.

Mr. Jerdon worked for the Nevada Irrigation District and was a member of the Grass Valley Masonic Lodge, Madison Lodge #23 and the Nevada City York Rite Degrees.

Mr. Jerdon is survived by his sister, Mattie Frost of Sacramento; brother, George Jerdon of Idaho; nephew, Charles Jerdon of Rough and Ready; niece, Ovva Jerdon of Rough and Ready; and stepson, Reginal Leighton of Novato. He was preceded in death by his parents, William and Edna Jerdon; brothers Edward, Ralph and Thurman Jerdon and John Martin; and sister, Florence Jerdon.

Arrangements are under the direction of Hooper and Weaver Mortuary.
