Westbound Highway 20 through Penn Valley closed Wednesday, Thursday

Caltrans will block all westbound traffic on Highway 20 from Grass Valley through Penn Valley from 6:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. Wednesday and Thursday.

Only one eastbound lane from Penn Valley Drive to the Highway 49 overpass will be open to traffic as workers repair guardrail, restripe the roadway, replace signs and reflectors, according to Caltrans.

The Highway Patrol and flaggers will be on hand to assist with traffic control and a detour for westbound motorists which will start at the Highway 20 and Highway 49 intersection (Empire Street bridge) in Grass Valley.

The detour will take traffic from Empire Street and the Mill Street off-ramp onto McCourtney Road and past the landfill.

Shortly thereafter, drivers will turn right onto Indian Springs Road and then right again on Penn Valley Drive, from where they will proceed back to Highway 20.
