Well-known neighborhood duck killed by smoke

Anyone who has walked on Lewis Road in Nevada City the past few years knew Mr. Duck. He is the neighborhood khaki who ran to greet each passerby and often followed quacking loudly up the road.

Michelle and Kevin Homan bought the old Trout Farm pond property a few years back and have created a haven for birds and water-life alike. Mr. Duck seemed unable to tolerate the smoke and passed quietly on the pond this late Tuesday. He is survived by Mrs. Duck. She is left behind, choking on the smoke all alone.

Birds are having great difficulty tolerating the current smokey air. Please provide them some extra water and food. If you see Kevin and Michelle, extend your condolences.

Mr. Duck was a much beloved member of the neighborhood and his unique personality will be missed.
