We need better oversight of public agencies
We read about yet another public agency mishandling their fiscal responsibilities.
Nevada Irrigation District should reconsider its policies regarding the use of unsupervised credit cards, for which they are liable. (Where does one get a credit card with a limit of over $71,000, and how could these bills have gone unpaid for so long?) Of course, NID could raise rates again to cover this sort of thing.
I wish to challenge all readers who work for a public or private agency using taxpayers’ and/or rate payers’ funds to examine their policies and procedures, and to be responsible watchdogs for the benefit of all citizens of Nevada County.
