We need a solution to snowplowing problem

During our last series of snow storms, the county road crews created a very serious problem for many people by pushing tons (literally) of road snow onto private driveways.

This, of course, created serious safety hazards in case of fire or 911 emergencies.

The roads were cleared, and driveways were cleared by private means, but it was impossible to access the roads because of these heavy berms of snow and eventually, ice.

I saw scores of people, some elderly, trying to shovel out that snow, and worse – ice castles, 33 or more inches high – risking serious injuries.

I realize that this was a very unusual weather situation and the road crews were overwhelmed, but there must be a plan in place to prevent this potentially dangerous situation from occurring again.

Perhaps the solution would be to have a large pickup with a snowplow blade follow the plow to remove berms.

This would be a small price to pay for public safety.
