Watch for brazen burglar, police warn

Police warned Grass Valley residents today to lock doors, windows and screens to thwart a brazen burglar who has been entering houses while people are at home.

The burglar has been seen inside homes, peeping into windows and in yards at least 10 times in the past three weeks. He operates between dusk and the early morning hours in the area north of downtown, police Capt. Dave Remillard said.

He was last spotted at 3:45 a.m. today on the 300 block of North Church Street wearing a white ball cap.

The man is described as being 25 to 30 years old with a thin face, wearing baggy clothing and usually wearing a ball cap.

Witnesses have said the man “speaks English with a hispanic accent,” Remillard said.

So far, no one has been attacked.

Remillard asked that anyone with information call police at 477-4600.

If anyone believes a person has entered their residence, they should call 911 immediately, Remillard said.
