Walter Steiner Jr.

A celebration of life for Walter E. Steiner Jr. of Smartville will be conducted at 1 p.m. Saturday at Western Gateway Park in Penn Valley.

Mr. Steiner died Tuesday, Feb. 8, in Penn Valley. He was 74.

He was born July 8, 1930, in Los Angeles, to Walter E. Steiner and Rose Ann Virich. He served in the U.S. Air Force as a captain. He attended two years at Cal Poly as a math major. He married Jacqueline in 1970, in San Jose. He retired from PG&E. He was a Mason. He enjoyed mountain climbing, gold panning, fishing, rock crawling and his dogs.

He is survived by his wife, Jacqueline E. Steiner of Smartville; son, Mark A. Steiner of Smartville; daughter and son-in-law, Beverly A. and Chris Chase of San Luis Obispo; stepdaughters Veronica Walters of Grover Beach, Valerie Salazar of Smartville, and Launa Whitmer of Arroyo Grande; stepson, Al Massengale of Grover Beach; 19 grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.

Arrangements are under the direction of Chapel of the Angels Mortuary.
