Wallace Olson

Visitation for Wallace V. Olson of Grass Valley will be from 5 to 7 p.m. today at the Nevada City chapel of Hooper and Weaver Mortuary. A funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. Tuesday at the chapel, followed by burial at Greenwood Memorial Gardens Cemetery in Grass Valley.



Mr. Olson died Friday, Feb. 1, in Grass Valley. He was 70.




He was born Feb. 14, 1931, in Lake Preston, S.D., to John and Teressa Olson. He attended Lake Preston High School and served in the U.S. Air Force from 1952 to 1956. He married Doris Krenz on Feb. 5, 1952.

Mr. Olson worked as a carpenter for more than 40 years and was a member of Carpenters Union Local 46. He was a charter member of Peace Lutheran Church in Grass Valley.

He is survived by his wife, Doris Olson of Grass Valley; daughters and sons-in-law Geraldine and James Peterson, and Dorene and Thomas Rutherford; sons and daughters-in-law Donald and Danielle Olson, and Dale and Dana Olson; brothers Robert Olson and Hubert Jensen of Lake Preston, and Orville Olson of Madison, S.D.; sisters Ruby Lowe of Sioux Falls, S.D., Charlotte Smith of Lake Preston and Muriel Warner of Grass Valley; sister-in-law, Lillian Olson, and seven grandchildren.

Arrangements are under the direction of Hooper and Weaver Mortuary.
