Walgreens in Glenbrook Basin?

The Grass Valley Planning Commission may be agreeing to add 500-plus vehicles daily to the Brunswick Road/Sutton Way area if Walgreens is allowed to build on the former Jim Kiel Chevrolet site.

This does not make sense, considering the traffic and congestion already existing there. Only one lane enters Sutton, and motorists have difficulty entering and exiting the DMV and CHP offices.

A pedestrian would have to cross traffic to get to Walgreens. I walk in that area, and twice, when I was trying to cross Brunswick toward Flyers with the “walk light,” I was almost hit by a vehicle turning right onto Sutton. Consider the difficulties for those in motorized wheelchairs.

Walgreens would add to the existing problem for vehicles and pedestrians. We have Longs and Rite Aid. Let Walgreens build elsewhere and serve other area residents.

Alternatives that would not add so much traffic need to be considered. How about a park for the enjoyment of all? It would improve the appearance of the Basin. Attend the next planning commission meeting, Oct. 16, at 7 p.m. Even if you do not speak, your attendance and support is important.
