Verne Vincent

Services for Verne William Vincent of Grass Valley will be conducted at 12:30 p.m. Wednesday at the Church of Jesus Christ of the Latter-day Saints, 615 Hollow Way in Nevada City.

Mr. Vincent died Wednesday, Feb. 11, in Grass Valley. He was 97.

He was born Oct. 4, 1906, in Savage, Minn., to Gertrude and David Vincent. He married Florence Oct. 17, 1935, in Los Angeles. He was an active elder in the Nevada City ward of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He was an avid fan and supporter of the Nevada Union High School sports programs. He enjoyed walking around Grass Valley.

He is survived by his daughters Neldine Valles of Shingle Springs and Dee Ann Nilges of Riverside; son, Gerald Vincent of Shingle Springs; and grandsons Mike and Travis Valles, both of Shingle Springs, and Bill Vincent, Eric Vincent Ramirez and Daniel Adams Nilges, all of Riverside. He was preceded in death by his wife, Florence Ruby Vincent, on Jan. 27, 1996.

Arrangements are under the direction of Hooper and Weaver Mortuary.
