Vernadean Walker

Private graveside services for Vernadean Walker of Grass Valley will be conducted at 1 p.m. Saturday at Los Gatos Memorial Park.

Mrs. Walker died Sunday, March 12, in Grass Valley. She was 85.

She was born Sept. 22, 1920, in Sedalia, Mo., to Hugo and Elsie Holtzen. She graduated from Fremont High School in Oakland and married Edward Walter on Dec. 13, 1939, in Oakland. She worked for JC Penney and Montgomery Ward. She enjoyed gardening, cooking and visiting with her family.



She is survived by her husband of 66 years, Edward Walker of Grass Valley; daughter and son-in-law, Bonnie and John Torres of Nevada City; daughter, Donna Johnson of Winchester, Ore.; son and daughter-in-law, Bruce and Linda Walker of Quincy; daughter and son-in-law, Kim and Ronald Bishop of Stockton; five grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.

Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of the Foothills, 12399 Nevada City Highway, Grass Valley 95945.




Arrangements are under the direction of Chapel of the Angels Mortuary.
