Vera Leone

Vera Mabel Leone, 101, of Grass Valley died Saturday, Dec. 27.

No services are planned. Interment will be at the Mountain View Cemetery in Oakland.

Mrs. Leone was born Jan. 8, 1902, in Lakeview, Ore., to Farnham Edwin and Lillie Evelyn (Colvin) Harris. She was the youngest of three girls and was raised in Lakeview until she was 14. She graduated from Oakland High School in 1920 and then worked for the Old Bank of Italy, which later became Bank of America. She also worked for the Maritime Commission and Farm Security Commission. She married Charles J. Leone in 1922, and they lived in Oakland. She was a resident of Lake Wildwood until 1996, when she moved to Sierra View Manor and then Golden Empire Convalescent Hospital. She was a member of the Amaranth and enjoyed handiwork, gardening and playing cards.



She is survived by her granddaughter, Michelle Arellano of Milwaukie, Ore.; grandson, Douglas Andrew Leone of Hilo, Hawaii; great-grandchildren Charles Luis, Martin Andrew, Oriana Cecelia and Derrek Leone; and her daughter-in-law, Mimi B. Pequin Leone. She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles J. Leone; son, Douglas Edwin Leone; and sisters Virginia and Verda Harris.

Arrangements are under the direction of Chapel of the Angels Mortuary.
