Valentine’s Day doesn’t have to end

In a day-after-Valentine’s Day dance, San Francisco’s New Monsoon plans to regale its audience with a fusion of musical genres (rock, jam and blues) Friday in “Bring Your Love Valentines Dance Party” at Miners Foundry. Local musicians Saul Rayo and Nuevo Mundo will open. “New Monsoon V,” the group’s latest album, has some funky, easy grooves, some fast and furious sounds and some great guitar pickin’ and harmonies – a good listen. And the band performs these tunes acoustically and electrically, as does the Saul Rayo band, which, as its name implies, is new. We’ll just have to wait and see how it differs from the old band, Cocina del Mundo. This rock ‘n’ roll show begins at 8:30 p.m. The foundry is at 325 Spring Street in Nevada City, and the cost is $15 at the door or $10 in advance at BriarPatch, Record Connection and After the Gold Rush Records.
