‘Unite for Youth’ event Saturday

Singer-songwriters Alela Menig and Mariee Sobonya, Black Bear, The Fighting Puffins from Colfax High School and other musical acts will perform during the seventh annual “Unite for Youth” event Saturday at Pioneer Park in Nevada City.

Set for noon to 5 p.m., the free event encourages teens to be smoke-free. “Unite for Youth” also provides youth-related information from school clubs and community organizations such as Golden Sierra Job Training and Big Brothers Big Sisters of Nevada County, Inc.

Audience members are encouraged to bring chairs, beverages and food.

The all-ages event, which is smoke- and alcohol-free, is sponsored by the Nevada County Prevention Services, Friday Night Live and the Tobacco Prevention Program.
