Two injured in Highway 49 crash

Two Nevada County people are in stable condition at Sierra Nevada Memorial Hospital after a two-car wreck at 12:36 p.m. today on Highway 49 just south of Grass Valley.

The California Highway Patrol reported that Elizabeth W. Knoderer, 78, of Nevada City, was southbound on the highway, when she pulled into the path of an oncoming vehicle. That vehicle was driven by Carl N. Mayo Jr. 77, of Grass Valley, which smashed into Knoderer’s.

A hospital spokesman said both accident victims were still being treated in the emergency room at 3:30 p.m. The CHP had no other details.
