Country Club, property owners group are different

The Alta Sierra Country Club is considered to be the hub of the Alta Sierra community. In addition to a beautiful golf course that borders many homes, the club hosts numerous events open to Alta Sierra residents, and local leaders often make use of the club for meetings, etc.

There is often, however, a misconception that the Alta Sierra Country Club (the club) and the Alta Sierra Property Owner’s Association (ASPOA) are one and the same or are under the same management. This is not correct.

The Alta Sierra Country Club is completely separate from ASPOA or any other homeowners group. The club is owned by its membership, directed by an elected board, and managed by staff. The club is a group of like-minded people who enjoy playing the game of golf, sharing quality meals and celebrating events together.

The Alta Sierra Property Owner’s Association, on the other hand, is an all volunteer, not-for-profit organization charged with enforcing the CC&Rs and dedicated to advancing programs that make the community attractive, safe, harmonious and healthy for all residents.

For example, the club is not negotiating lower residential propane rates or the removal of deceased deer for residents, while ASPOA is not running Bingo Night, Monday Night Football or hosting the Thanksgiving rand Buffet. As Alta Sierran residents, we all lean on each other in many ways, direct and indirect, and we appreciate these two organizations that make our community a better place to live.

John Renslow is general manager and a PGA professional at the Alta Sierra Country Club.
