Trustees to appoint interim president of Sierra College tonight

The Sierra Community College District board of trustees is expected to announce a replacement for Kevin Ramirez, who has stepped down as college president at the request of several trustees.

The meeting will be held at 7 p.m. Thursday on the Rocklin campus.

Ramirez, 57, served as president for the college district for nearly 12 years before Nevada County-area trustee Aaron Klein asked for his resignation Dec. 20. In his memo, Klein alleged that Ramirez had mismanaged funds from the failed campaign for Measure E, a $384 million bond rejected by voters in Placer, Nevada and Sacramento counties in March.

Ramirez, the college and the college’s nonprofit foundation, from where $100,000 in funds were allegedly shifted, have denied the allegations.

Details of the separation agreement between Ramirez and the college are due to be released Friday, when a one-week window barring Ramirez from discussing the agreement expires.
