Trust fund set up for Penn Valley fire victims

A trust fund has been set up for a Penn Valley family who lost their home and most of their belongings in a fire last week.

The home, at 10291 Bar Hill Road, belonged to Sierra Nevada Memorial Hospital Ambulance medic Mark Sorenson, his wife, Stacey, and their two young sons.

The fund, “The Sorenson Family Fire Fund,” is located at Citizens Bank. Deposits may be made at any branch, or mailed to P.O. Box 1420, Nevada City 95959.

The fire reportedly started after Stacey Sorenson turned on a light in the living room and it started to spark, Mark Sorenson said.

Crews from the Penn Valley, Grass Valley and Rough and Ready fire departments responded to the blaze and were able to save a bed and a couple of dressers. The sons lost all of their belongings, and most of the recovered property was smoke-damaged.
