Trudy Hoover

A memorial service for Trudy Hoover of Auburn will be conducted Friday at 1 p.m. at Emmanuel Episcopal Church in Grass Valley.

Mrs. Hoover died at her home New Year’s Day. She was 79.

Born March 10, 1922, in Mobile, Ala., to Thomas B. Bell and Ruby A. George, she lived in Alabama and Texas before she first married. She graduated from high school in Mobile and worked as a secretary before the birth of her children.

Mrs. Hoover moved to California in 1961. She lived in Vacaville, and then in San Francisco for 15 years, before moving to Grass Valley in 1978. She worked as a secretary for the San Francisco Public Works Department.

Mrs. Hoover was a volunteer with the American Red Cross, an active member of the Republican Party, a golfer and a member of the Alta Sierra Golf Club.

She was married April 15, 1978. She is survived by sons Chuck Thompson of Alta Sierra and Edward Thompson of Westborough, Mass.; a stepdaughter, Linda DiFranco of Morgan Hill; and five grandchildren, Heather, Travis, Stephen, Natalie and Tony.

Preceding her in death were her husband, Boyd Hank Hoover; a sister, Vivian Williams of Tampa, Fla.; and a brother, Reuben Bell of Mobile, Ala.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association.
