Trace Spurgeon

Services for the Rev. Trace Elliott Spurgeon of Vallejo will be conducted at 10 a.m. Saturday at the New Life Assembly of God Church in Marysville.

Spurgeon died Monday, Feb. 18, at home. He was 48.

He was born Feb. 17, 1954, in Tacoma, Wash. He lived in the Yuba-Sutter area for three years before moving to Vallejo, where he lived for three years. He was ordained with the Assemblies of God. He had been a pastor at Word of Life Assembly of God in Vallejo for the past 31/2 years.

He is survived by his wife, Mary M. Spurgeon of Vallejo; sons Marine Cpl. Brian Elliott Spurgeon, stationed in Okinawa, Japan, and Mark Aaron Spurgeon of Vallejo; sister, Tina Wilmoth of Tacoma; stepfather, Orville Spurgeon of Tacoma, Wash.; stepbrother, Samuel Spurgeon of Tacoma; stepsister, Linda Spurgeon of Tacoma; father- and mother-in-law, the Rev. Richard and Joan Hartman of Lake Wildwood; brother-in-law, John D. Hartman of Grass Valley; sister-in-law Molly Hartman of Sacramento; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his mother, Joyce Elaine Spurgeon; father, Gerald Brooks; and sister-in-law Myrna Hartman.

Arrangements are under the direction of Hutchison and Carnes Colonial Chapel in Marysville.
