Tour of the Feather River Fish Hatchery near Oroville

A free tour set for Wednesday, Oct. 17, at the Feather River Fish Hatchery near Oroville will bring into focus some of the issues concerning global climate change being discussed by the latest “Contemporary Issues” speaker series. Participants will tour the hatchery and fish ladder, built by the Department of Water Resources to replace spawning areas for salmon and steelhead lost when Oroville Dam was built. We’ll also enjoy a film about the dam’s construction and tour exhibits at the Visitor Center nearby. To carpool, meet at 7:30 a.m. Wednesday at the park-and-ride lot on Highway 20 at Pleasant Valley Road. The tour wil begin at 9 a.m. at the hatchery at 5 Table Mountain Blvd. Plan on two hours there. For more information, call Bob and Carol Lenhard, (530) 274-4477. The Contemporary Issues series is sponsored by Peace Lutheran Church, 828 W. Main St., near downtown Grass Valley.
