Toby Morton

A celebration of life for Toby Morton of North San Juan will be conducted at 2 p.m. Saturday at the Oak Tree Lodge, Oak Tree School, 18847 Oak Tree Road in North San Juan.

Mr. Morton died Tuesday, Aug. 20. He was 33.

He was born July 13, 1969, in Los Gatos to Denny Morton and Toni Gerard. He attended Boulder Creek Elementary, Branciforte Middle School and Natural Bridges High School in Santa Cruz County. He also attended Empire High School in Grass Valley his junior year before returning to Santa Cruz to graduate from Natural Bridges. He attended Cabrillo College in Soquel. He worked for Sierra Timberframers.

He was an artist who worked in pen and ink, oils, acrylics and watercolor. He was also a published poet.

He is survived by his father, Denny Morton of North San Juan; stepmother, Mindi Morton of North San Juan; mother, Toni Gerard of Santa Cruz County; brothers Tommy Morton of North San Juan and Auden of Santa Cruz County; sisters Julia and Jessica Morton, both of North San Juan, and Denine and Katy of Santa Cruz County; stepbrother Marshall Evans of North San Juan; and grandfathers Nathaniel Morton of North San Juan and Edward Gerard of South Lake Tahoe. He was preceded in death by his sister, Mallory Ann Morton; and grandmothers Ann Morton and Louella Mae Gerard.
