AGAIN, OUR TIMELINE guy came up with an almost stumper with the photo of a PG&E crew taking down a utility pole on Commercial street in Nevada City to allow for putting the utilities underground. Location: the new parking lot is at right out of the picture. The VW’s nose pokes out from the New York hotel’s parking lot. Frequent guessers Bob and Miriam Davis came in first.

Now then, this pigeon cote is no longer, but it was once part of a very famous Grass Valley structure, which also is no longer. Old-timers, it should be easy; newcomers, take a wild historic guess.
