Time to make your New Year’s Eve plans

With Christmas plans hopefully in place by now, it’s time to think about New Year’s Eve, one of the most anticipated party nights of the year.

To help you consider your options, we’re listing area celebrations 12 days in advance of the big night out.

The New Year’s Eve Party at Cooper’s on Dec. 31 features The Stones, The Mones plus special guest Adam Kline with Golden Shoulders. Admission is $10, which includes a free drink, midnight champagne and more. Cooper’s is at 235 Commercial St., Nevada City. Call 265-0116 for reservations as these rock ‘n’ roll bands have a strong local following.

Classic rock by Sacramento’s The Romp will be heard at McGees Annex from 9 p.m. to 1 a.m. Cover is $3. McGees is at 315 Broad St., Nevada City; the phone number is 265-3205.

Saul Rayo’s group will help Kirby’s Creekside Restaurant & Bar visitors bring in the New Year by playing world groove originals, starting at 9 p.m.

There’s no cover. Kirby’s will throw in complimentary champagne at midnight and party favors. A holiday dinner menu will also be available downstairs and upstairs.

Kirby’s Creekside is at 101 Broad St. Call 265-3445 for dinner reservations or for more information.

A few miles away, in Grass Valley, Holiday Cabaret will celebrate with disc jockey Jamal spinning dance tunes from 9:30 p.m. to 1:30 a.m.

Cover is $5 at the door; party favors and noise makers are included.

Nevada Club’s festivities include the Keytones, taking the stage at 9 p.m. Cover is $2. Call 274-0947 for more information. Nevada Club is at 108 W. Main St., Grass Valley.

“The Party’s At the Foundry” will include music by Real George and Lorraine Gervais’ Diva’s Diversion, casino games, snacks, midnight champagne toast, and a catered dinner by Anthony’s at Miners Foundry Cultural Center.

The complete party package is $65 per person in advance; and $30 in advance and $35 at the door for just the party (no dinner).

Doors open at 6:30 p.m. and dinner is served at 7:30 p.m.; the party runs from 9 p.m. to 1 a.m.

The Foundry is at 325 Spring St., Nevada City. Call 265-5040 for reservations or information.

For those wanting a more reflective celebration, check out Ustad Habib Khan, playing meditative music of India on the sitar. His all- ages show will be at Sivananda Ashram Yoga Farm, 14651 Ballantree Lane in Grass Valley. Admission is $12. Call 272-9322 for questions about the concert.

The new WallStreet Cafe will also be open New Year’s Eve with live entertainment for adults. Admission was not known as of press time. The venue is at 114 W. Main St., Grass Valley. Call 274-2411 for more information.
