Three schools merge into one cast for ‘Aladdin’

The Nevada City School District’s Theatre Arts Program has merged three schools – Seven Hills, Nevada City Home Study and Deer Creek – into one cast for Disney’s “Aladdin.” The one performance which is not a school assembly is taking place at 7 p.m. Friday at Seven Hills Middle School, 700 Hoover Lane, Nevada City. The public is invited to this and, although free, donations are encouraged.

One of the creative challenges of this production has been getting the magic carpet airborne, which two parents helped engineer. Among the approximately 100 students, teachers, parents and businesses that have pitched in to make this a full-scale production are Beverly Marks, the music director, and Beverly Robinson, the choreographer.

According to eighth-grader Zach Dellis, “These plays are better than playing sports, just don’t tell my dad, Jeff Dellis. He’s the varsity basketball coach at NU!”
