Three people suffer minor injuries in head-on collision

Three people escaped serious injury Monday in a morning accident on Bitney Springs Road.

At 11:20 a.m., Sacramento resident Sue Cook-McKnight, 62, was driving her 1995 Subaru west on the road. Just west of North Ponderosa Way, the car was struck head-on by an eastbound 1995 Toyota Carolla, driven by David Adams, 55, of Grass Valley.

Adams crossed over the double-yellow line, according to the California Highway Patrol.

Cook-McKnight suffered minor injuries and was taken to Sierra Nevada Memorial Hospital. Her passenger, Donna Whittaker, 70, of Grass Valley, was also hurt but declined treatment. Adams had a cut to his arm.
