Three guest readers appearing Friday at county poetry series

Susan Kelly-Dewitt, Steve Arnston and Heidi Hodgson will be guest readers at the Nevada County Poetry Series Friday in Grass Valley.

An open mike will be held before and after the readings.

Kelly-Dewitt, author of three chapbooks, has works included in national anthologies and poetry journals. Awards include a Wallace Stegner Fellowship from Stanford University and the 1998 Chicago Literary Award. She is a creative-writing instructor at the University of California at Davis Extension and an associate editor at Swan Scythe Press.

Arnston draws on his many years of piano training to lend rhythms and form to his writings, which have appeared in several literary journals and magazines.

Nevada City resident Hodgson has traveled around the world with her family. Her passions include art, psychology, language and travel. She hopes to combine them at her salon and day spa, Sirens, to open soon above Cafe Mekka in Nevada City.

For this month only, the Nevada County Poetry Series moves a few doors down to the Holbrooke Hotel’s Iron Door room, 212 W. Main St. Next month, the series returns to Center for the Arts.
