Thomas Sawyer

Thomas Sawyer, 77, of Grass Valley died Wednesday, Aug. 11, in Grass Valley.

No services are planned.

Mr. Sawyer was born Dec. 26, 1926, in Michigan to Robert and Marie (Perninski) Sawyer. He served in the U.S. Army Aircorps during World War II as a rear gunner B29 Bomber flying seven missions over Tokyo. He married Norma Ahrens on Feb. 3, 1965, in Michigan. He was in automotive sales. He enjoyed watching his grandchildren and playing baseball and softball.



He is survived by his sons and daughters-in-law Robert and Lynn Sawyer of Auburn, Kevin and Melissa Sawyer of Kansas City, Mo., and Larry and Cheryl Engelking of Grass Valley; sons Gary Ricky, and Tommy Sawyer of Kansas City, Mo., and Gary Engelking of Grass Valley; grandchildren Ashley and Ryan Sawyer and Larry, Crystal and Wendy Engelking, all of Grass Valley; and great-granddaughter, Katie Sawyer of Kansas City, Mo. He was preceded in death by his wife, Norma; and granddaughter, Jessica Sawyer.

Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of the Foothills.




Arrangements are under the direction of Chapel of the Angels Mortuary.
