Thomas Anderson

Services for Thomas Frank Anderson of Grass Valley will be conducted at 2 p.m. Monday at Chapel of the Angels Mortuary in Grass Valley. Burial will follow at St. Patrick’s Catholic Cemetery in Grass Valley.

Mr. Anderson died Tuesday, Feb. 21, at Sierra Nevada Memorial Hospital. He was 80.

He was born Sept. 4, 1925, in Big Springs, Texas, to Oscar Anderson and Lillie Hicks Anderson. He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II. He retired after 35 years as a Psychiatric Technician with both the Modesto and Napa State Hospital. He was a member of the American Legion Frank Gallino Post No. 130 of Grass Valley. He enjoyed fishing, building and camping.

He is survived by his daughter and son-in-law, Pamala and Jeff Carling of Sparks, Nev.; stepsons and daughters-in-law, Lloyd and Janice Cantrell of Modesto, Mark and Melisa Sylva of Antioch, Michael and Alyson Sylva of Grass Valley, and Martin and Margo Sylva of Fairfield; step-daughter and son-in-law Debbie and Mike Okey of Rohnert Park; stepsons Mitch and Matt Sylva of Grass Valley; grandson, Scott Sylva of Dublin; granddaughter, Jessica Carling of Sparks, Nev.; sister, Dolly Huitt of Big Springs, Texas; 21 grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife, June Anderson in 2005.

Arrangements are under the direction of Chapel of the Angels Mortuary.
